Trim Levels (Exterior)

The entry-level Elantra Hybrid is the Blue. It comes with 16-inch alloy wheels, automatic projector headlights, and a hands-free trunk lid. A step up to the Limited adds 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, heated exterior side mirrors with integrated turn signals, and a sunroof. One small change for the 2023 model is that the taillights are now a combination of LED and bulb instead of full LED. Unlike many other hybrid models, the Elantra Hybrid looks almost identical to the gas-powered version.

Engine (Power)

The Elantra Hybrid gets power from a combination of gas and electric power. A 1.6-liter four-cylinder gas engine works with an electric motor to generate 139 horsepower. A lithium-ion battery set under the rear seats keeps the motor powered, and the motor sends power to the front wheels. Drivers will appreciate the six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that comes standard with this hybrid.

Performance

The ride in the Elantra Hybrid is smooth and quiet. The Blue is the more efficient model and can get up to 56 mpg on the highway. The Limited is not far behind with a 52 mpg rating on the highway. Hyundai gave this sedan a multi-link rear suspension for a more comfortable ride and extra control.

Interior

Inside, there's room for up to five in the Elantra Hybrid, and it feels remarkably spacious for a compact car. The Blue comes with one-piece folding rear seats, while the Limited has rear seats with a 60/40 split. Cloth upholstery comes in the Blue trim, which also has dual-zone automatic climate control and push-button start. Stepping up to the Limited adds leather upholstery, a power-adjustable driver's seat with a memory function, heated and ventilated front seats, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Technology features in the Elantra Hybrid start with an 8-inch touch screen for the infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, satellite radio, a six-speaker stereo, and two USB ports. You'll get a 10.25-inch LCD gauge cluster in the Limited, along with a 10.25-inch infotainment touch screen. It also adds navigation, voice recognition, wireless charging, and Hyundai's Digital Key.

Safety Features

Both 2023 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid models come well-equipped with standard safety equipment. A blind-spot monitoring system, automatic braking, forward collision warning, and rear cross-traffic alert are just the start. It also has a safe exit warning feature that warns passengers not to get out when a vehicle is approaching, lane-keep assist, lane-following assist, and high-beam assist. A driver attention warning system is also standard. This will alert the driver if they don't respond when one of the safety systems activates. The Limited adds to all these safety systems with adaptive cruise control and Hyundai's Highway Driving Assist semi-autonomous driving system that can steer, accelerate, and brake the Elantra Hybrid under certain conditions.
